| This fly was originally called the "Monkey-faced Louise", and was tied using Groundhog fur. Now it is usually tied using Pheasant feathers. The Olive Carey Special is very popular in the Interior lakes of British Columbia. This fly is very versatile and can simulate many different bugs. A few of these include; dragonfly nymphs, caddis nymphs, mayfly nymphs, and leeches. The Olive Carey Special is typically fished by trolling the fly on or near the surface. Success can also be acheived by casting the fly with a full sinking line and retreiving with short strokes, pausing in between. |
